statement
We cannot see things with other people’s eyes, nor can we see the landscape as others see it. Therefore, every painting is only a depiction of a particular person or landscape as seen by its creator.
Nevertheless, painting is not an “description” or “record” of a particular figure or landscape, but rather attempts to transform them into polymorphic objects that can be anyone or anything by stripping their details away. Its aim is to establish a method (rule) for overcoming the distinction between individuality and universality, or concreteness and abstraction.
